Susan Rudy is a writer and academic working at the intersection of poetry and experimental life writing.

Recent creative work includes Consequences (Ottawa: above/ground press, 2026), the thirty-third title in the press’s prose/naut imprint, and YOU, a 55-page chapbook currently under review at draught, a journal based at London’s Royal Academy of Art. Both are excerpts from Hand Over, a longer work of poetic and experimental nonfiction she has been developing for over a decade, shaped in part during a Leighton Artists’ Studio Residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity in 2024 and a September 2026 residency at Vancouver’s Historic Joy Kogawa House.

She is also co-author, with Hannah Silva, of “Who Cares If There Are No Women? An Intergenerational Conversation About Queer Parenting,” in Revolutionizing Motherlines (Demeter Press, 2026).

Susan is Professor Emerita at the University of Calgary and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London, where her academic work focuses on gender and experimental writing.
