About

Susan Rudy is a writer, researcher, and Honorary Senior Research Fellow based in London, UK. Her work spans queer feminist theory, experimental writing, and poetic practice. Originally from Canada, Susan has published widely as an academic, with over thirty years of contributions to feminist scholarship and literary criticism. Her recent scholarship includes contributions to Feminist Theory and Reading Experimental Writing.

Since 2016, Susan has been focussed on her creative practice. Her latest manuscript, Hand Over, is a genre-defying exploration of identity, motherhood, and intellectual life. Developed during a residency at Canada’s Banff Centre for the Arts and completed in her London studio, the book assembles over a thousand sentences — her own and others’ — into an alphabetised, nonlinear narrative that reflects her commitment to poetic truth-telling, innovative form, and the complexities of living a queer life across borders.

Susan’s writing is informed by decades of research, lived experience, and a deep engagement with feminist and queer communities in London and Canada. She brings a unique voice to contemporary literature, blending memoir, theory, and poetic form to challenge conventional narratives and open space for new ways of thinking and feeling.
